Group Provides Job Assistance to Returning Veterans

With our holiday weekend behind us and our economy continuing to go downhill fast, one group works to make a difference in the lives of returning military members and their families.   The majority of conventional job resources fail to adequately connect returning veterans with the wider military community and aren’t very effective in connecting them with good jobs.  Well, one national agency is working to change all of that.

WWW.HIREAHERO.ORG started out as a professional networking website focused on finding employment opportunities for returning service members as they transition from military to civilian life.  Hire a Hero provides a wide online community to connect and support military personnel as they look seek meaningful employment.  Veterans that have succeeded in locating employment mentor others, not only in finding a job but with education, training, social services and counseling to provide all the support necessary to succeed.

In the past two years 190,000 veterans have registered.  Hire a Hero have assisted 3 out of 10 veterans find a career.   Web 2.0 networking technology has created a platform to allow veterans to connect with other veterans for support and encouragement.
